Taleofthecat.com is a unique publishing company, situated on the wild Atlantic Way, incorporating voicesofthewildatlantic.
A cursory glance at Ireland’s most memorable writers reveals that most of them either hailed from the counties that skirt the wild Atlantic, or as in the case of Synge, based their work against its glorious backdrop. John B. Keane, Kerry, Frank O’Connor, Cork, John McGahern, Leitrim, George Moore, Mayo, Patrick McGinley Donegal, the list could go on.
Taleofthecat introduces a new generation of writers, who either live or write about the disparate communities who inhabit this sparsely populated region.
Ireland’s recent history features in many of their writings. The boom which saw unprecedented opportunities for wealth creation was followed by a recession and housing bust unparalleled in Western Europe. Picturesque landscapes unfortunately often suffer the most in any economic downturn when it becomes a necessity to be in cities with access to better communication, jobs, facilities and transport.
However, it is often in the more desolate areas that creation finds its beginning and key life events are keener observed – and more accurately depicted.
Taleofthecat aims to bring to the written page everyday stories of heroic struggles that transcend location, time and place.
We are delighted to introduce Delia Maguire as our first author. Delia’s novel The Rural Gentleman has introduced thousands of readers to the unique corner of Ireland that accommodates West Cork.
